Production Seminar (EDT 417) is a capstone, practice-oriented course designed to enable students in Educational Technology to integrate and apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout their programme to real-life teaching and learning challenges.
The course emphasizes learning by doing, guiding students through the process of identifying educational problems, designing instructional solutions, and developing complete instructional packages using appropriate technologies. It adopts a learner-centered and problem-solving approach, encouraging creativity, innovation, and independent learning.
Students will engage in key activities such as instructional design using models like ADDIE, media production, development of instructional materials, and the use of multimedia tools to enhance learning experiences. The course culminates in the production, presentation, and defense of a functional instructional product that addresses a specific educational need.
In addition, students will develop competencies in evaluation and continuous improvement of instructional materials to ensure effectiveness, usability, and relevance in real educational contexts.
Overall, this course prepares students for professional roles as instructional designers, educational technologists, and e-learning developers by equipping them with practical, technical, and presentation skills required in modern education.
