EDT 521: PROCESS AND SETTING PRODUCTON PRACTICE II

Process and Setting Production Practice II is a practical-oriented course developed within the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) framework to equip learners with advanced knowledge and hands-on competencies in media production processes and setting design. The course builds on foundational concepts and exposes learners to the systematic planning, coordination, and execution of production activities across diverse media environments such as film, television, theatre, radio, and digital platforms.

Designed for flexible and independent learning, the course integrates theoretical concepts with guided practical exercises, enabling learners to study at their own pace while engaging in collaborative and project-based activities. It emphasizes the relationship between production processes and setting management, highlighting how environmental, technical, and organizational factors influence production outcomes.

The course is structured into modules covering pre-production, production, and post-production processes, as well as setting design, production management, ethics, and evaluation. Learners are introduced to key areas such as idea development, production planning, workflow organization, equipment coordination, safety practices, and team collaboration.

Within the ODL context, learners are supported through study guides, self-assessment exercises, tutor-marked assignments (TMAs), and practical projects that encourage critical thinking and real-world application. Interactive learning strategies such as group tasks, reflective activities, and portfolio development are incorporated to enhance learner engagement and skill acquisition.

By the end of the course, learners are expected to demonstrate the ability to plan and manage production processes, design appropriate production settings, apply technical and creative skills, and evaluate production outcomes effectively. The course prepares learners for both academic advancement and entry-level professional roles in the media and creative industries.
