SED 513: Special Method III (Post-Teaching Practice Evaluation/Remediation)

Special Method III (SED 513) is an advanced professional course designed for 500-level pre-service teachers in Educational Technology. The course builds upon foundational knowledge acquired in Special Method I and II, with a strong emphasis on developing pedagogical mastery, instructional decision-making, and innovative classroom practices.

The course adopts a learner-centered and technology-driven approach to teaching, equipping students with the competencies required to function effectively in contemporary classrooms. It explores advanced teaching methods, instructional planning, technology integration, classroom practice, assessment strategies, and reflective as well as inclusive teaching practices.

Throughout the course, learners will engage with modern instructional approaches such as inquiry-based learning, problem-based learning, collaborative learning, and differentiated instruction. The course also emphasizes the integration of digital tools and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching to enhance student engagement, personalize learning, and improve instructional outcomes.

In addition, the course provides practical opportunities for skill development through micro-teaching, classroom interaction strategies, and reflective teaching practices. Learners are guided to design learner-centered lessons, apply assessment for learning techniques, and adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students in inclusive classroom settings.

By the end of the course, students are expected to demonstrate the ability to apply advanced teaching strategies, integrate technology effectively, design inclusive and engaging learning experiences, and reflect critically on their teaching practice for continuous professional development.

This course ultimately prepares pre-service teachers to become innovative, reflective, and competent educators capable of meeting the demands of 21st-century education.
